~~~ Boy in Breeches ~~~
I saw a boy wearing breeches,
in an old photograph.
I asked someone, "Who is it?"
"Well of course... Who else could it be?
Why that's your Uncle Calvin."
He really looked very smart,
With the bill of his cap turned up.
And he was smiling!
A very mischievous smile!
His parents were not.
I became like a son to him,
Before his own came to be.
And his own and I became in time,
In fair and foul...
The very best of friends.
He took us to the river
That flows north to Dauphin bay.
The water flowed...
With pike untold.
And the Frenchman he agreed.
Oh Calvin, my Uncle dear,
Your heart was ever true.
The LORD above will find him room,
And joy you'll know as waters flow...
His peace will come to you.
